Ricky Reyes’ views on LGBTQ+ rights draw mixed reactions from fellow members of the third sex

Gay hair salon tycoon Ricky Reyes surprised netizens on September 10 with his remarks on the SOGIE (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression Equality) Bill which remains pending in the Senate.

The said bill was sponsored by Senator Risa Hontiveros, which prohibits all forms of discrimination and violence against people based on their sexual expression or identity.

One of its provisions includes prohibiting businesses from denying Filipinos access to their facilities (such as toilets), utilities, or services on the basis of their gender identity.

It is not the first time that Reyes has figured in a controversy, In April 2014, Reyes was involved in an issue regarding illegal dismissal and non-payment of monetary benefits at the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC). This was when he allegedly fired an employee who had HIV.

Some netizens admired his insight while some disagreed.
