Being with constant complainers may be bad for your health

When you think about those people you know that complain the most, how does that affect you? For most people, it just brings them down drastically and made them feel like they also need to do the same. This can result in demotivation.

  • Complaining is known to make people feel better as it releases stress from their system.
  • But according to Jon Gordon, too much of it makes you feel less happy and more miserable.
  • This can also rub off on other people and create a domino effect of negativity.
  • Aside from the mental effects of chronic complaining, it can also result in physical health problems.

It’s no secret that complaining feels good since it helps release your stress and frustration. But it turns out that it doesn’t do much to help us overall..

According to Jon Gordon, the author of the book The No Complaining Rule, the more we complain and be with complainers, the more unhappy we become.

He said that the harmful effects of complaining could become as severe as that of second-hand smoke. When all you do is complain with those chronic complainers, it is guaranteed that you will get more miserable.

It’s totally fine to complain from time to time, but when you complaints sound more whiney and negative rather than a reasonable expression of an opinion, no one actually needs all of that. That includes you.

When you think about those people you know that complain the most, how does that affect you? For most people, it just brings them down drastically and made them feel like they also need to do the same. This can result in demotivation.

The chronic complainants almost always fail to see how negative they are and that rubs off on other people. That no matter how much you try to help them and give them words of wisdom, it’s never going to be enough. Instead of letting go of stress, it creates more.

This actually has a scientific explanation. It triggers the production of cortisol and when this happens, your blood pressure rises and glucose spikes. Too much of it can lead you to serious health issues.

So remember, when you feel like there’s someone in your life that complains too much, take a step back. Go ahead and monitor yourself and try your hardest to be more positive. You’ll be feeling better in no time.
