Victims of the Taal Volcano eruption have been struggling to survive and to keep their spirits up considering what they have lost like their homes, livestock, pets, etc. But someone thought of something to put some smiles on their faces.
Netizen Joshua Capul posted on his Facebook account photos of the “Miss Gay Evacuee 2020” pageant where gay evacuees competed for fun.
The event was organized by Rexelle Dellosa, who owns a catering business, and other youth volunteers who also held a singing and beauty contest at an evacuation center in Balayan, Batangas.
“Layunin ng grupo namin na kahit sa anong paraan, maibsan ang kanilang kalungkutan,” Dellosa said.
On that very day, the contestants gather their donated clothes and blankets to use as their costumes or gowns for the pageant.
“Alam naman po natin na kapag (galing sa) LGBT group, sila po ang nakakapagpaalis ng problems. Nakakapag-entertain sila sa lahat,” Dellosa said.
Prizes of the event were ranged from relief goods to cash which they received from different donors.
“Napansin kasi namin na kapag tapos na namin silang pakainin ng dinner, tulog na agad sila at minsan may nakikita kaming nakaupo lang sa sulok, palaging tulala at malalim ang iniisip,” Dellosa, who hosted the events, noted.
The competition for Miss Gay Evacuees 2020 was a success since many evacuees enjoyed the event.
