Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) deputy administrator Mocha Uson slammed the Senate for holding a “press conference” that discussed the issues surrounding the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN.
On Monday, February 24, the Senate committee on public services headed by Senator Grace Poe opened its first hearing on the franchise of ABS-CBN as the House of Representatives has yet to act on pending bills before it.
At least 12 bills pushing for the franchise renewal of the network have been pending in Congress.
In a tweet, Uson belittled the Senate hearing and likened it to a simple press conference.

In another tweet, Uson said the only conclusion drawn from the Senate inquiry was that Senator Grace Poe got ABS-CBN to back her in the 2022 election.

A lot of netizens reacted to Uson’s posts, mostly lambasting her for her statements.
Here’s what they said:
Ano ba talaga papel mo? Anak ng p____ naman, naman! Sino bang amo mo? Di ba taxpayers? Kami yun gorl (again, short for gorilla)! Buksan rin kasi isip di puro 2 legs naka-open!”

Both President Rodrigo Duterte and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, who were running mates in the 2016 elections, have axes to grind with ABS-CBN.
The President had accused ABS-CBN of prioritizing a “black propaganda” and not airing his paid political ads, while Cayetano alleged that the network gave unfair airtime to other vice presidential candidates during the campaign.
The ABS-CBN was cleared over issues of taxes, labor conditions, and Philippine Depositary Receipts.
