Have you ever heard of Jhon Robic Itang Villanueva?
Robic, a working student from Bulacan, has found fame by creating short video clips lip-syncing to soundbites on TikTok.
You’ll probably remember him in his lip-syncing video with the Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos that got shared hundreds of times.
The 19-year-old TikTok performer told DailyPedia that he initially downloaded the app for fun.
He said he never expected that hundreds of people would watch and share his videos.
“November po ako nag-start after ko mapanood sa news na may bagong app na nakakalibang daw. Ini-impersonate ko that time si ma’am Maine Mendoza kaya nag-try ako. Then nag-start ako sa tatlong video na may tig-tatlong likers, and two followers after nun hindi na ko nag-TikTok,” Robic shared.
“Then January this year ng muli akong mag-start mag-TikTok. Nung umpisa hindi ko napapansin na dumarami ‘yung likers and followers ko kasi hindi naman ako ganon ka-serious sa TikTok. Hanggang sa may ginawa akong dub ‘yung kay Tekla at doon na po nag-umpisa. Then nag-try ako ng drama sa TikTok. Isa doon ay ‘yung kay Ms. Vilma Santos then ‘yun na iyong nag-start mag-viral,” he added.
Robic said many people have shared and used his “Vilma Santos video” to make duets with him on TikTok.
“Sa tingin ko, maraming naka-appreciate ng ginawa ko doon kasi sinampal ako,” he quipped.
“Maraming nakipag-duet at kung anu-ano pang ginawa sa video. Nakakatuwa,” he added.
Robic noted that he spends an hour in making one lip-sync video.
For those who don’t know, TikTok is an app that is used to create short videos based on a dance, song, or meme that is then repeated by other users.
To date, the app has been downloaded more than 1.5 billion times.
Through TikTok, Robic hoped that he could also break into acting and achieve his dream of being an actor.
“I hope na may kumuha sa akin from the entertainment industry at mabigyan nila ako ng pagkakataon na maipakita ko sa kanila ‘yung talentong meron ako,” he noted.
“My future plan is maging artista po talaga. I think ito ‘yung makakapag-buo ng buhay ko, ang pagiging artista,” he added.
Robic admitted that he tried auditioning to be an actor, but failed several times.
“I hope ma-achieve ko ‘yung goal ko in life na maging artista and maging successful,” he said.
“‘Yon po ‘yung pangarap ko sa buhay para hindi rin panghinaan ng loob at malagpasan ‘yung mga problemang dumarating sa tulong ni God,” he concluded.
