US-based physician Dr. Anacleto Belleza Millendez, who calls himself Doktor ng Bayan went on YouTube and said semen is a treatment for coronavirus.
“I would like to address a very important health topic about the way to treat coronavirus infection.”
This came in a response to people who were surprised by his previous remarks on how the reproductive fluid can provide protection from the deadly virus.
“Ang malinis na tamod ay isa sa pinakamabisang gamot sa viral infection.”
Dr. Millendez says there are studies that support his claim, and that semen can kill microbes.
“Meron scientific study na nagpapatunay na ang tamod, o yung tinatawag nating semen, na ang nilalaman nito ay spermine, isang mahusay na ingredients, isang amino acid na nakakamatay ng mga mikrobiyo, lalo na yung mikrobiyo na sanhi ng viruses.”
He added that he has studied this, and various experiments have been done on the matter. The spreading of this information will be helpful, especially when it reaches the government.
“Ito ang tingin ko na pwede nating simulan na ipaalam sa ating pamahalaan na simple lang para puksain ang nakakakilabot na coronavirus.”
Clean semen can be used as a hand sanitizer.
“Pwede itong ipamunas biland hand sanitizer.”
Dr. Millendez also said clean semen can be swallowed.
“Pwede itong inumin.
“Siguraduhin lang ay malinis, walang halong mikrobiyo, Walang sexually transmitted disease, walang HIV.
“Ang isang tamod na malinis ay ininom ng isang tao, maiiwasan na siya ay magkaroon ng coronavirus infection,” he said.
There are still zero confirmed treatments for COVID-19, and efforts on creating a vaccine are being worked on by various experts from different nations.
Dr. Millendez’s comments have not yet been proven, and a simple Google search suggests that semen has nothing to do with treating viruses. The many studies that he says that have been done on this topic are nowhere to be found.
Interestingly, a study in the November issue of Emerging Infectious Diseases suggests 27 different viruses can live in the male fluid, including Ebola, Marburg, chikungunya, and Lassa fever.
Most of the viruses temporarily appear in semen after a man gets infected, while the others remain for many years.
Dr. Amesh Adalja, an infectious disease doctor at Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, who wasn’t involved with the study says “the testicles have privilege,” which makes viruses live in that area longer because the immune system “doesn’t police the testicles as well as other organs.”
While it is true that COVID-19 is not a sexually transmitted infection, people who are having sex will obviously be in close contact with each other, and usually kissing will happen, which inevitably transmits the virus.
If one partner is exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, then it is a no brainer that no sexual intercourse should happen.
Having sex with strangers is also not advised.
Dr. Millendez is a huge supporter of the current administration, as seen on his Facebook pages and account.
The Philippines now has over 558 COVID-19 related deaths, and the confirmed cases are just increasing as days go by.
