- People crowded his house for eight hours as the medical team tried to retrieve his body.
- His supporters tried to stop the burial as they think that he was only in a “spiritual retreat with God” but he was still buried in front of his house on the same day.
A pastor who claimed to have healed coronavirus by “laying his hands” on dozens of confirmed and suspected cases died of the illness on May 16.
Frankline Ndifor, 39, a candidate in the central African state of Cameroon’s presidential election in 2018, claimed to be able to cure COVID-19.
The Kingship International Ministries Church has been beset by citizens after Ndifor, its founder, started to lay his hands on them and pray for their healing. These supporters called him a “prophet” and blocked the entrance of his home in the capital city of Doula for eight hours as medical staff tried to retrieve his body.
The police were deployed when the commotion happened but the supporters claimed that the pastor was only on a spiritual retreat with God so he could not be buried.
They sang and prayed for his resurrection throughout the weekend but he was still buried in front of his house.
Dr. Gaelle Nnanga, who was called to treat Ndifor after he started suffering severe respiratory difficulties a week after falling ill with the virus, said the pastor died ten minutes after treatment.
Rigobert Che, one of his supporters, said that Ndifor prayed for him and several dozens tested positive for the coronavirus.
“This is a pastor that has been laying hands [on the sick] and claiming that he cures COVID-19. If you, the person that claims that you are curing COVID-19, you are dead, what about the fellow people that were affected by the COVID-19?”
