COVID-19 has affected millions of people’s jobs including those who work for various airlines, leaving most of these people with no stream of income.
But Lorrie May Parungao, who is a flight attendant working for Pan Pacific Airlines, decided it would be better to have a small income rather than having none.
Lorrie is now selling fish balls and various refreshments to make up for the lack of income.
She considers it a noble activity and has no problem doing it since it is not just for her but for the family since she is the breadwinner. What she makes from it does not come close to her salary as a flight attendant but it is enough to put food on the table for her family.
“Fishball business muna habang lockdown, ito ang bagay na ng buhay sa aking paglalakbay patungo sa pagiging F.A. Maraming salamat sa Aaking mga magulang na ako’y inyong minulat sa maraming kasanayan sa buhay na aking madadala saan man at kailan man.
“From a simple family vendor and a farm earning family, di ko kailanman ito Ipag-kakaila. Hanap buhay parin para sa pamilya at pinaka mamahal na anak.”
“Never Let your past experiences be a hindrance to your future and dreams. Always be grateful for all that has happened in our lives. It will be our fuel for our dreams. Never forget where we came from, it will always lead and teach us to aim and soar high…” Lorrie wrote.
Similarly, a chief flight attendant of Thai Airways named Kosit Rattanasophon resorted to becoming a Grab Food driver due to temporary suspension of flights.
He drives his Ducati delivering goods to make up for the lack of income. He does it to support his sister and father, who help out by selling rice boxes.
Thai actor Pheerawas Khunlanunthwatn, also called Amp, has been a Grab Food driver for quite some time now. The initiative was recommended by a friend and the actor does not regret getting into it. Amp is making around ฿30,000 monthly from being a driver which made him realize how hard it is to save money.
