In a televised speech on Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte said he’d like to visit various military camps nationwide in the coming days while observing COVID-19 health measures.
“If there is anybody who wants to be out and enjoy and live life normally, it’s me. I don’t like this lockdown… I hate it.
“But I tell you, if you cannot stop yourself from going out and you get infected, then I’m sorry. Same is true for me. If I’m reckless enough and then I get it — because in the coming days I intend to go around the country, I will visit some military camps. I’ll just have to take precautions,” Duterte said.
In addition, the president is looking for an emergency operations center in Cebu.
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) approved the establishment of a National Task Force (NTF) Emergency Operation Center earlier.
The visible increase of COVID-19 cases prompted the initiative while the government is in the process of increasing the critical care capacities of Central Visayas.
Duterte also submitted his 13th report on the use of his additional powers to combat the coronavirus crisis to Congress even when various senators claimed that it had expired back in June 5 but Malacañang said the law will remain effective until June 25 due to its sunset provision.
Harry Roque said in an online briefing that Duterte will still submit reports beyond June 25.
“Magkakaroon pa po ng final report after the 25th,” Roque said.
One requirement of the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act is that the president report all the government’s efforts in fighting the disease.
Duterte extended the general community quarantine imposed on Metro Manila and other areas until June 30 last week and had Cebu City revert back to an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) while Talisay City was placed under modified ECQ.
