The problems of ABS-CBN are not yet over as SAGIP Partylist Representative Rodante Marcoleta wants to incite the National Telecommunications Commission to penalize ABS-CBN for alleged illegal TV Plus sales.
Marcoleta said that based on his computation, ABS-CBN could be charged 1.97 trillion pesos in fines, which is almost half of the Philippine budget for 2020.
“Kinukwenta ko sa 5 million black boxes times P200 per day (fine). Eh 365 days per year, nakapagbenta sila sa five years, four months. Kaya ang kwenta ko P1.97 trillion pesos.” Marcoleta said.
[I’m calculating 5 million black boxes times 200 pesos per day as fine. We have 365 days per year and they have sold for five years and four months. So, my calculation is 1.97 trillion pesos]
But ABS-CBN declared that they have sold nine million TV plus units as of February this year, which means that the calculation of Marcoleta could be doubled.
In case the ABS-CBN cannot pay the fines, their properties and other possessions could be the alternative.
“Ipunin natin lahat ng pagaari nila sa Pilipinas, marami pa naman siguro iyun. Iaattach natin lahat ng pagaari nila,” the partylist solon said.
This outrageous claim from Marcoleta seemingly confirms rumors that he is gunning to take over the ABS-CBN properties.

Friend asked what now that ABS-CBN wasn't granted franchise privilege? Network owners just walk away? No penalties imposed for violations? It's up to Congress. A Rep could file reso for Gov to penalize the network that could amount to say, maybe up to a TRILLION pesosesoses?☕

ABS-CBN has stated that it was losing 30 to 35 million pesos per day the channel is off the air. And on July 10, the congress denied ABS-CBN franchise renewal, officially terminating the network.
The termination of the network also signifies the loss of jobs by 90% of the ABS-CBN workforce which includes regular and non-regular workers.
Solicitor General Jose Calida also celebrated the franchise denial of ABS-CBN and said that “Justice has been served”.
Is the loss of jobs of 11,000 Filipinos and merciless ruination of the ABS-CBN company the new way of serving justice in the country?
