All students have different stories. Though members of a class all go through the same lessons provided by their teacher or instructor, they still have different sets of challenges and hurdles to go through, especially in a personal aspect.
Recently, a Facebook user shared her story that earned so much respect and became the source of motivation to others.
Ira Lectana Baldonaza posted on her profile saying that she became classmates with her daughter. She started off by saying that people criticized her for still being in school despite being 36 years old. They asked her why she still continued to study when she’s already old.
“I believe that learning is a lifelong process and I really have the determination to pursue my dreams,” she wrote.
She said that everything went smoothly but by the time she reached her last year of college, she got pregnant.
The netizen admitted that she wanted to give up but with the motivation of the people around her, she decided to continue on. She then gave birth to a baby girl when she was in her first semester that school year.
“Fourth year first semester, I gave birth. [I] thought it will be easy for me to continue kasi iiwan sa bahay si baby while I’m at school, but it turned out differently.”
There are two reasons why the situation was a bit more challenging for her. First is her daughter doesn’t like formula milk to the point that she won’t drink it, and second, she tested G6PD positive on her NBS results.
It means that she really needs to be breastfed and there are a lot of things she can’t intake.
“Kaya I had no choice kundi isama sya sa school. I asked the college administrator if pwde isama anak ko kasi sa school [guidelines], bawal magdala ng babies. But since may G6PD siya, pinayagan ako. Mahirap sobra pero kinaya ko.”
And that’s how she became classmates with her daughter.

Baldonaza then thanked her teachers and the school staff that helped support her and take care of her baby.
“Thank you to all teaching and non-teaching staff of COED. Sobrang supportive [niyong] lahat. Thank you for everything and I’m forever grateful.”
