According to It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda, he is the real winner of the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 because of his relationship with model Ion Perez.
In a November 5 Instagram post, the comedian is seen feeling his boyfriend from behind with the caption, “Don’t wanna give my heart away to another stranger.”
Jonas Gaffud, Miss Universe Philippines Organization (MUPO) creative director, agreed with Vice Ganda, saying “Ikaw yung Kinoronahan eh, Miss Universe Philippines!”
Vice jokingly replied that there shouldn’t even be an issue regarding who won the event.
“diba! O loko!”
He was basically talking about the controversy surrounding the winner, Rabiya Mateo of Iloilo, who the people say “cheated” her way to victory.
Sandra Lemonon of Taguig, a top 16 semifinalist, initially made cryptic uploads on Instagram. It was alleged that Mateo was fed questions to the Q and A portion of the competition and brought in her makeup team, which is not allowed.
Mateo was hurt by the allegations but was lucky enough to have been defended by other “queens.”
Second runner-up Michele Gumabao was also a no-show at the presentation of the winners.
The MUPO said the allegations against Miss Iloilo have no basis whatsoever.
On October 25, Vice and Ion celebrated their second anniversary.
Vice came out with a video titled “Mahal Ako ng Mahal Ko” where the two were seen on a date at an amusement park in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
“October 25 is a very important day because it’s our anniversary. Yes, two years na tayo. Dahil espesyal ang araw na ito, of course, we need to celebrate. Vice said.
The two are also seen crying in the video because they hurdled a lot of obstacles in their relationship.
Ion promised that he will give Vice all his love.
Mamahalin kita nang sobra.” the 29-year old said.
Perez was one of the winners of the 2017 Misters of Filipinas pageant. His career was given a much-needed boost after he was crowned Mister Universe Tourism in 2018.
