VP Leni Robredo now more popular after Pres. Rodrigo Duterte insults, raises over P55 million for relief efforts

Several hours after that tweet, she posted a photo of cars parked outside her office. Apparently, those who went there wanted to contribute to Robredo’s cause in helping typhoon victims.

Following Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s tirades against her, Vice President Leni Robredo received even more praise from the public.

According to one of Robredo’s latest Facebook posts, the donation drive of her partners already surpassed P50 million. This after Duterte slammed her for allegedly competing with the government’s response to typhoon-hit areas.

“It is also the same with the in-kind donations we have been receiving at the office. Most of the messages accompanying the donations are to the effect that they wanted to help the typhoon victims and it is their way of showing their appreciation for the kind of work that our office has been doing for our kababayans,” she said.

Duterte also claimed that Robredo asked for his whereabouts during Typhoon Ulysses’ onslaught and made it look like she led the government’s relief efforts.

“Sa panahon ng matinding sakuna, dapat lahat na tulong, welcome. Hindi ito contest. Hindi tayo nag uunahan. Lahat tayo dapat nagtutulong tulong para sa ating mga kababayan,” she said earlier.

On Friday, Robredo said that an additional P5 million was donated, which has brought the total to over P55 million.

“More communities will receive help. Bayanihan in action. But others are still busy trolling. Pls donโ€™t engage trolls. Just block them,” she tweeted.

Several hours after that tweet, she posted a photo of cars parked outside her office. Apparently, those who went there wanted to contribute to Robredo’s cause in helping typhoon victims.

Netizens could do nothing but praise Robredo.
