Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas on Monday said new photos of him dancing at a Christmas party is just a case of “fake news.”
Sinas believes that people are doing this to ruin his name. The photos emerged after Sinas banned gatherings in the PNP during the holidays.
“Negative po. Fake news po ‘yun. ‘Yung video na ’yun, alam ko retirement ng kaklase ko doon sa Tuguegarao just before (the COVID-19 pandemic). Alam ko January pa ‘yun. Wala po kaming Christmas party. Siguro may mga tao talagang walang magawa sa buhay,” he said in a press conference.
The photos are screenshots from a video which shows him dancing in a blue shirt.

Sinas made headlines in May when he broke strict quarantine guidelines by holding a celebration for his 55th birthday.
But Pres. Rodrigo Duterte let him off the hook because what the corruption in the country is a more concerning issue.
“Akin na ‘yun. At kung may kasalanan siya doon, pardoned na siya. Wala akong nakitang kasalanan na masama na may moral implications,” said Duterte.
“Maliit na bagay lang ‘yun. Dun ako galit sa mga corrupt,” he added.
On November, Sinas was promoted to PNP chief, drawing more criticism.
Also on Monday, Sinas shared that previously dismissed police officers somehow were able to go back to the PNP.
“Totoo po, may na-dismiss kami pero nakabalik po. Nakakuha sila ng orders from the court, from the NAPOLCOM (National Police Commission) o from the Civil Service Commission,” said Sinas.
“Ang usapan na lang namin ni Sen. Bato (dela Rosa), higpitan pa lalo ’yung procedures,” he added.
He attributes this to changes in leadership, saying that some were victims of revenge.
He thinks that the police officers who were dismissed shouldn’t be allowed to enforce the law again.
“‘Pag tinanggal mo, dapat ay na-process na ‘yun, na-evaluate na, at na-access. ’Pag na-dismiss na ‘yun, sana ’wag nang maibalik. Kasi hindi naman tayo 100% (sigurado) pagbalik niya ay matino na siya. But again, may proseso ‘yun na sinusunod,” said Sinas.
