ABS-CBN Corporation has started to bounce back after the possibility of its franchise renewal appeared as well as the start of its newest projects and partnerships.
According to Philstocks Financial Incorporated senior research analyst Japhet Tantiangco, the Kapamilya network already made ‘much progress’ despite its stocks plummeting after it shut down in May 2020.
The shares on Thursday closed at Php14.08 apiece, which is still significantly lower than its Php17.50 price in May 2020. However, Tantiangco stated that it’s already higher by 108.28 percent than its September 2020 price of Php6.76.
“The climb is seen to be caused by ABS-CBN’s entry into other platforms for its shows,” he said.
ABS-CBN has strengthened its social media presence by being active on Facebook and YouTube. Some of its shows also went back on television after partnering with A2Z. The media giant recently announced that ASAP Natin ‘To and FPJ: Da King secured a slot on TV5. The two shows started broadcasting on January 14.
“And then there are the renewed calls in Congress to provide ABS-CBN a franchise again. Bills have been filed already both in the House of Representatives and the Senate for the media company’s franchise,” Tantiangco said.
“And this has raised hopes that ABS-CBN could get back on air again.”
The network also gained recognition after it won its 5th Platinum Award from the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands of 2020 while Its Showtime host Vice Ganda was named as the Most Trusted Entertainment/Variety Presenter.
