GMA Films, Inc.’s president and programming consultant to the GMA chairman and CEO Annette Gozon stated that GTV (formerly known as GMA News TV) is open [not only to Kapamilya] artists from every management.
In a virtual press conference, the Kapuso executive shared that they aim to welcome not just artists from its Mother Network but all production houses, too.
“We didn’t create GTV just to be an outlet for artists from GMA and from our Artist Center. We are also open to cast artists from all managers, all production houses.
“So in the future hopefully you’ll be seeing more of these other artists on GTV,” she said.
Gozon shared that the goal of GTV is to connect to young and young-at-heart audiences. She said that they want to solve the problem of the people when it comes to the variety of shows to watch.
“The difference between GMA and GTV is that we want to really touch the hearts of the young and the young at heart with this channel. Because we feel that the audience is looking for variety and we want to be able to fill that void. Of course, limited naman ang air-time ng GMA and maybe they’re also looking for this type of content.”
GMA News TV was rebranded as GTV on February 22.
It offers ‘the news you trust and the new shows to love’. Its line-up will still include news programs but will be joined with basketball, rom-com, public affairs, lifestyle, and anime shows in its programming mix.
First VP and Head of Regional TV and Synergy Oliver Amoroso stated that they will be airing the 96th season of the Philippine National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) on the channel.
“We are also open in the future to other high-quality sports content but for now we are concentrating on NCAA’s Season 96,” Amoroso stated.
As for romantic-comedy, fantasy-romance The Lost Recipe starring Mikee Quintos and Kelvin Miranda will be added to the programming options. Other shows include My Fantasy Pag-ibig, Game of Gens, and Farm To Table, among others.
