One More Chance and A Second Chance director Cathy Garcia-Molina answered questions regarding the future of a possible reunion film of the popular on-screen tandem of Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz.
In an article in Bandera, it was said that while the plan may still push through, however, she won’t be directing the said film.
“Ako po as their director hindi na. Pero parang tuloy po with a different director,” said Molina.
When asked if she has any hard feelings towards Alonzo for jumping ship, she answered that she respects both Bea and John Lloyd’s decisions. Members of the media then joked about how Popoy and Basha have ended their stay in the Kapamilya network.
Molina just laughed and said, “Hindi naman pang-forever yan.”
Just a few weeks ago, both John Lloyd and Bea joined Molina in a Zoom meeting for a supposed upcoming project that was based on the 2010 movie Miss You Like Crazy.
On the other hand, rumors are circulating that Bea ran away from a project that ABS-CBN already spent millions for before making her transfer to GMA Network.
ABS-CBN writer Henry King Quitain posted a cryptic statement saying that if someone left a project that the company put millions in, it’s only right for them to pay for the budget wasted.
“Pag may iniwan kang project at gumastos na ang kompanya ng milyon. Sana bayaran mo na lang yung nagastos. Anyway siguro naman kikitain mo lahat yan. Kasi naghihikahos na nga kami, hindi naman biro yung itatapon na lang na pera ng kompanya kasi iniwan mo na lang basta,” said Quitain.
Erick Salud, an ABS-CBN Executive, then accused “an actress” of making excuses to discontinue the project when she really wanted to transfer.
“So ayun nga. Lumipat nga ang isang aktres. Bakit kaya? Eh may project siya na nasimulan at na-promote na prior pandemic. Tapos say niya, ‘di pa siya ready magshooting. Ayun pala lilipat. AAAARTE!!! Naghihirap ba siya? Eh may big farm nga. Kaloka siya!!!”
During her contract signing with the Kapuso network, Alonzo explained her side and said that she had a mutual agreement with ABS-CBN to cancel the show.
“I was doing a soap for them. But then nagkar’on ng pandemic. And alam naman natin na maraming pagbabago. So nagkaroon rin ng pagbabago sa story. And we came to a decision na hindi na lang matutuloy yung soap.”
She added that she has negotiated with GMA Network for months before signing a contract as she waited for the right moment to make her transfer.
