The directors for the upcoming television drama series Nagbabagang Luha all agree that lock-in taping is more productive than the traditional.
In a media conference, directors Ricky Davao, Philip Lazaro, and Gina Alajar said they hope the practice of lock-in taping will carry on once the pandemic is over.
Davao said producers have longed for this kind of shooting.
“Yung nangyayari ngayon maganda. Yung naka lock-in, nung araw pa meron na mga producers na gustong gawin ‘yun.” he said.
“The late Armida Siguion-Reyna, lahat ng pelikulang gawa niya naka lock-in sa isang province.” he added.
One advantage is that the artists have more time to concentrate on their characters instead of doing something else.
“As an actor, naka concentrate kami sa character. Nakatutok ka lang ‘dun. Every day nag shooshooting ka. Maganda ‘yun.” Davao stressed.
Another is that the entire script for the show is already complete so no confusion will happen.
“For us directors, it’s easier to plot everything kasi buo na.
“For actors, nagkakaroon ng magandang bonding. Morning until night magkasama kayo.
He wishes the same set-up post-pandemic.
“Kahit sana mawala na yung pandemic, baka ‘yun pa rin ang magiging practice kasi napakaganda naman talaga.” Davao said.
Lazaro shared the same remarks, saying the practice strengthens relationships between cast members and gives them enough time to study their roles.
“We are all together. We are familiar with each other. Sometimes mas organic pa siya.
“Actors tend to have time to concentrate and study the characters.
“Sa mga directors naman, mas naploplot mo na yung buong season.
“Tsaka mas mabilis yung trabaho I think,” he said.
Gina Alajar agreed with Davao and Lazaro. However, she doesn’t like the requirement of constantly using face shields and face masks. Other than that, lock-in taping is perfect for her.
“During rest days we can’t go out of our rooms kasi ‘di pwede mag mingle.
“Kung wala lahat ‘yun, it’s perfect. Yun yung pinaglalaban namin noon pa.
“It’s healthier now kasi we get 8 to 10 hours of sleep. We’re very well rested kahit every day nagtatrabaho,” she said.
Nagbabagang Luha is the remake of the 1980s movie of the same name.
