Broadcaster Atom Araullo thinks it’s silly for politicians to claim that they don’t do photo ops when helping those affected by calamities.
In a tweet, Araullo said it’s one thing to exploit disasters to further political agenda, but right now, people need as many photos as they can get to see the real situation and how they can also help the victims of Typhoon Odette.
Yung sinasabi ng ibang opisyal na “tahimik lang silang nagtatrabaho” to address the needs of typhoon survivors makes no practical sense. Using relief operations for political gain is one thing, but people really just want to know what’s going on, and ultimately how to help.

He said transparency is extremely important and quick responses to those struggling.
The extent of the damage, in so many densely populated areas, calls for a coordinated, national effort from both the public and private sector. Speed, decisiveness, and transparency is key.

Presidential aspirants Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Vice President Leni Robredo, and Bongbong Marcos all contributrd to the victims.
Robredo has visited all regions affected, as displayed on her social media pages. In addition, she recently distributed sacks of rice in Iloilo.
“The relief assistance was not only to tide over Ilonggos after the typhoon wiped out their homes and possessions but to also assure them that they are not alone in facing the aftermath of the storm this Christmas,” the Office of the Vice President said in a statement.
Marcos and running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte delivered around P38 million in cash and relief goods.
Pacquiao had to cancel his birthday party to also provide aid to areas destroyed by Odette.
