Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has responded to allegations that it doesn’t feel like Christmas season in his town.
Former Pasig Mayor Bobby Eusebio went on social media and claimed that the city lacked lanterns and other Christmas-related things.
“Parating na siya si Hesukristo ang ating manunubos. Pasig, Ano na ang nangyari? Walang parol? Walang kumukutitap sa kalsada? Hindi maramdaman ang diwa ng Pasko,” he said.
“Saludo kami sa mga LGUs, Barangays, na patuloy sa paggunita ng Kapaskuhan sa kabila ng pandemic ay hindi ito naging hadlang upang ibahagi ang diwa ng Pasko sa kani-kanilang mga nasasakupan,” he added.
Sotto then refuted Eusebio’s claims, saying that there are decorations, just not that much.
“Mayroon naman, hindi lang siguro siya nakakaikot, hindi lang ganoon karami,” Sotto told ABS-CBN News.
He explained that the number one priority of the local government was to hand out food packs to all households in the city.
“Halimbawa, ang nabibigyan lang dati ng Pamaskong Handog, kung sino lang yung malapit sa nakaupo. Ngayon binibigyan natin lahat ng bahay dito. ‘Yun ‘yung hinahanap ng tao,
“Ako, bilang mayor, kung ano ‘yung gusto ng tao, ‘yun ‘yung binibigay natin using their funds,” he shared.
Sotto earlier revealed that the local government allocated P234.6 million to procure 375,000 food packs.

Sotto also cleared any accusations that there were inefficiencies in the bidding of Christmas decorations.
“It’s a matter of prioritization lalo na sa panahon ng pandemiya. Parang hindi rin tama na sobrang magarbo,” he said.
“May ilaw naman, hindi lang ganun ka bongga, but mayroon pa rin naman,” he added.
Pasig residents then made a comparison between Sotto and Eusebio.
Some said the younger mayor is already doing a much better job than his predecessor.
