Pro-democracy coalition 1SAMBAYAN, local artists, and celebrities banded together to show their strong support to the Leni-Kiko tandem and to the eight senatorial candidates on a star-studded online proclamation event on Jan. 28, 2022.
Aired on 1SAMBAYAN Official Facebook Page, artists, and celebrities, as well as candidates for the 2022 elections, offered messages of hope and solidarity to Filipinos here and around the globe.
“Binibigkis tayo ng iisang pangarap at ng pagmamahal sa bansa…Handa tayo laging makinig at mag-usap bilang kapwang nagmamahal sa bansang Pilipinas. ” said Vice-President and presidential aspirant Leni Robredo during the star-studded proclamation event.
Senator and Vice-Presidential aspirant Kiko Pangilanan, on the other hand, said that while Filipinos stay hopeful and willing, the impossible becomes possible and “Sa ngayon, nasa likod tayo ng karera, at hindi pa rito natatapos sa ngayon”.
The eight senatorial candidates who got the approval of the 1SAMBAYAN Convenors are: former Sen. Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes, Atty. Chel Diokno, Sen. Leila De Lima, Sen. Risa Honteveros, Atty. Alex Lacson, Rep, Teddy Baguilat, Atty. Sonny Matula, and Atty. Neri Colmenares.
Hosted by comedian Alex Calleja, other KakaPink artists and performers who threw their support for the Leni-Kiko ticket and senatorial line-up are Noel Cabangon, The Company, Nica del Rosario, Audie Gemora, Jeli Mateo, Agat, Melvin, Agel Mor Morallos, Bayang Barrios Villegas, Jim Paredes, Justine Peña, Penelope, and Mitch Valdez among others.
Given the opportunity to express some of their aspirations for the nation, Atty. Chel Diokno convened.“Malagyan ng kagat ang hustisya, may ipin ang batas, ang mga dehado magiging liyamado” he states. Similarly, Senator Risa Hontiveros offered her salute to VP Leni admiring her strength to defeat the tyrannical rule of the opposition, “I am filled with pride, that there are many Filipinos like you, who have supported the dream of a better country”.
Senator Antonio Trillanes, who kicked off the event, gave emphasis on the importance of democracy in the upcoming election. To this Sen. Leila De Lima agreed and added that, “Higit sa lahat pasisiglahin ang demokrasya ng bansa” on what traits a leader we should vote for shall manifest.
On the other hand, Atty. Alex Lacson shed light in the hope to promise inclusive growth and change. Wherein, Congressman Teddy Baguilat echoed his call for IPs representation and Atty. Sonny Matula stressed that a clean and honest government is a win for every Filipino.
Atty. Neri Colmenares, for being a part of the senatorial slate endorsed by 1Sambayan said, “Sa inyong suporta, kayang-kaya ko pong maging tapat na boses ng karinawang tao sa senado”.
Retired Supreme Court Justice and 1SAMBAYAN lead convenor Antonio Carpio said “We see the May 2022 election as the battle for the soul of the nation, the battle to prevent those who benefited from dictatorship, plunder, and cronyism at the expense of the long-suffering Filipino people”.
