Actor Enchong Dee was nowhere to be found after authorities visited his home in Cubao, Quezon City, to serve his arrest warrant.
Dee is facing a cyber libel case filed by Drivers United for Mass Progress and Equal Rights (DUMPER) Representative Claudine Diana Bautista-Lim last August.
He criticized Bautista-Lim’s wedding, tweeting, “The money for commuters and drivers went to her wedding. Let’s not prolong this conversation and don’t say otherwise.”
“On news reports regarding my filing of a cyber libel complaint against certain personalities, I would like to clarify that any legal action coming from us was instituted back in August of this year, upon my husband’s insistence and in response to the malicious allegations made against me at that time.”
“While I would have preferred to be silent about this matter, my husband, like any good and loving family man, took it upon himself to seek redress from the legal system, to protect me and our family from baseless and damaging claims made against us.” Bautista-Lim said in a statement.
Agot Isidro, Pokwang, and Ogie Diaz joined in on slamming the ceremony. However, all charges against the three were dropped.
On her program, talk show host Cristy Fermin advised Dee to surrender and post bail.
“Nag-prosper po ‘yung kaso sa piskalya at ngayon po ay mayroon na itong titulong People of the Philippines vs Ernest Lorenzo Velasquez Dee aka Enchong Dee.
“Ang kasong criminal na cyber libel ay nasa RTC (Regional Trial Court) ng Davao Occidental at siyang naglabas ng warrant of arrest nu’ng January 25, 2022.” she expalined.
According to Dee’s neighbors, the actor hasn’t been to his Cubao address in a while.
Fermin said Dee could not evade arrest forever.
“Ang pinakamagandang magagawa rito ni Enchong Dee ay ang voluntary surrender. Doon po siya pupunta sa judge na nag-issue ng warrant of arrest. Doon po sa sala na ‘yun ay pupuwede siyang maglagak ng piyansa.
“Hindi po pupuwedeng pagtaguan ito dahil lahat po ng sangay ng kapulisan ay pinadadalhan,
“At heto pa po puwede ring mag piyansa si Enchong Dee dito sa Maynila basta hawak niya ‘yung WA niya kasi sa Davao Occidental ‘yan.” she added.
She thinks Dee isn’t necessarily evading arrest but is waiting for the right time to take action.
“Pero ang pinaka ano diyan, ‘wag mong paliitin ang mundo mo, mag voluntary surrender ka at kung magkano ang piyasan, kailangan mo talagang ibigay sa korte.”
