Presidential candidate and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso had to giggle at one of his rivals who got inspired by the Marvel movie Ant-Man to run for the presidency.
During a press conference in Nueva Ecija on Thursday, March 10, Moreno was asked to comment about a rival’s reason for running for the presidency.
“Ant-Man? ‘Yun ba ‘yung sa Marvel? ‘Yung storya niyan from magnanakaw to hero?
“Good luck. Wala akong masabi,” he said while laughing.
Though no mention of any name, the question was obviously about Marcos.
Recently, Liza Araneta-Marcos, the wife of the late dictator’s son, sat down with host Boy Abunda and said her husband suddenly had the urge to run for the top position while they were on the couch watching Ant-Man, a movie about a thief becoming a superhero.
“Wala ako masabi, with all honesty kasi kami ni Doc Willie, nagdesisyon kasi gusto naming i-alay ‘yung serbisyo namin. Gusto namin i-alay ‘yung experience namin, yung mga pangarap namin sa tao.” Moreno continued.
Marcos is slowly losing ground while his rival Vice President Leni Robredo’s following is growing strong in numbers even if their own surveys say otherwise.
A group advocating the presidential and vice-presidential candidacies of Moreno and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has also recently been formed.
During its first presser, Isang Pilipinas specified why they can’t back Marcos. It said that it can’t support a candidate that rarely appears in debates.
“Pumili tayo ng Pangulo na alam natin kayang humarap. Mahirap pumili ng presidente na hindi humaharap sa taong bayan. Kailngan yung may malinaw na plataporma. Mahirap kung kukunin mo na hindi humaharap sa mga debate.“
Lead convenor Vivian Velez also noted that the surveys are inaccurate.
“There’s always a chance kaya kami nag-samasama na, nakita na namin yung landscape. Alam natin mga survey nababayaran lang naman. Maraming silent majority and we are askin them to come out at para malaman kung sino talaga ang nag-lilead at this point.”
