The Bola-Bola star plays a charming chubby teenager who tries to navigate herself towards self-acceptance and relationships that truly make her heart swell.
Taking on her first rom-com role should feel like a challenge for Francine Diaz, whose past roles in Kadenang Ginto (2018) and Huwag Kang Mangamba (2021), proved how talented she is as a dramatic actress. The iWantTFC series she is starring in will be a detour from the roles she is probably most comfortable at, but for some reason, we just know she’s also a star tailor-fit to shine as a rom-com superstar. Following how her showbiz journey flourished in the last five years, there is no denying that her star is poised to gather more shine, and that career will continue to swell. No pun intended.
Diaz is known for her humble beginnings. She had years of playing minor roles, mostly as the young version of the lead actress in various Kapamilya TV shows and movies, before she finally had her first major role via Kadenang Ginto. Last year, she shared the top bill with Andrea Brillantes for the miracle-serye ‘Huwag Kang Mangamba’, which has been, so far, the longest-running ABS-CBN series to debut and end during the pandemic.
With Bola-Bola, which is no doubt one of iWantTFC’s most exciting projects this year, the young Kapamilya actress is given a great platform to flex not just her rom-com charm, but also her versatility as an artist. She will face it, there is no doubt, but the possibility of it spawning more similar and even bigger projects stimulates bigger excitement.
Long-poised to become among her generation’s most promising leading ladies, Diaz has three all gorgeous and princely leading men to make chemistry within Bola-Bola. Through the new web series, it’s not a question of whether she will ace her role or not.
She is going to be great. At least, that’s what her long years in showbiz suggest. Now, it’s up to BGYO’s Akira Morishita, Pinoy Big Brother’s KD Estrada, and Ashton Salvador, to make that lasting impression, enough to convince fans and the management they deserve the chance to keep the brilliantly talented actress as their leading lady for a few more projects.
Bola-Bola streams on iWantTFC starting on March 26. The new series will run for six weeks, with per episode dropping on the streaming service every week. Watch the official full trailer below:
