Michael V’s parody of “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw” by Morissette Amon in a ‘Bubble Gang’ comedy skit was well received by many members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Michael played the role of Morichette, a 50-year-old LGBT member who is afraid to come out of the closet. He sang a satirical rendition of the well-known ballad “Gusto Ko Nang Bumigay.”
With the award-winning comedian showcasing many costume change transitions, the video was a huge hit, with over 8.1 million views on Facebook.
In addition, the song and performance were featured on the 27th anniversary of the program. The skit starts off with Michael’s wife, portrayed by Chariz Solomon, asking him to prepare clothes for a live selling session while she does her makeup in the video.
However, when Morichette was alone, he became overly emotional and started singing a song. Morichette also wore the dirty clothes he was supposed to sort. Later, when Chariz returned, she informed Morichette that his “private” moment had actually been recorded and streamed live.
At the end of the skit, Morichette freaks out, convinced that he accidentally revealed his true self to the world.
Michael V’s performance and the lyrics he used were received positively by members of the LGBT community and other gay-supporting celebrities.
Agot Isidro had all praises for Michael. “Husay talaga ni Bitoy!” she tweeted.
‘Drag Race Philippines’ season one contestant Eva Le Queen said she was able to really relate to the skit.
Story of a gay man who wanted to come out late in life surely is a redemption from that old, problematic song ‘Hindi ako Bakla’. The words ‘hindi naman nagpabaya. Kung gusto kong magpabaya mas madali’ hits too close to home. Thank you for this. 🥹 https://t.co/VJodA2zVn1

She called the skit a form of art in a response to a netizen who questioned the intentions of Bubble Gang.
Le Queen expressed, “Comedy is his art. And he has done what is within his capacity and platform. It’s like picking up garbage and expecting to pull a Greta. You should be asking these questions from people who are in a position and capacity to make ACTUAL changes for the LGBTQIA+ community.”

Netizens also felt emotional after watching the skit.
I know this was meant to be a joke but it just became heartbreaking and true 🥲
Sana sadya na ginawa 'to ni Bitoy at di lang siya accidental ally 🥴 https://t.co/hYwPyrxxUc

As much as I want to actually cackle of how well-put and comedic @michaelbitoygma is, I have to applaud how Bitoy represented LGBTQIA+ who have always been hiding themselves in the closet, to a point that they grow and never got the chance to actually live their truth. https://t.co/M6ZsldGR1Z

“Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw” was the theme song for the ABS-CBN show “The Broken Marriage Vow.”
This show is a mashup of the British drama series “Doctor Foster” and the Korean series “The World of the Married,” both of which originally aired in their respective countries in the 1990s.
