Celis clarified that her Vlog about giving her mother a million pesos was not just “for the content”.
Netizens who watched accused her of doing it for profit. They claimed she would eventually earn or recover the amount from the views her vlog would generate.
The comedian revealed that she had accumulated money for her mother for a long time.
She planned to give it to her on her birthday to make her happy.
Her mother would use the substantial amount of money to build a house on the lot she had given her as a gift.
“Kasi matagal na nakatengga ‘yung bakanteng lote na binili ko rin po sa kaniya,” Celis said.
She also shared that her mother had already purchased materials to build the house, which she plans to rent out.
“Isang milyong regalo sa birthday ng aking ina…kulang pa yan sa pagmamahal, pag aalaga at pag aasikaso mo sa akin… Worth it lahat ng pagod at paos ko sa trabaho ko,” she said in a post.
Kiray Celis expressed her hope that by sharing her special surprise, she could motivate other children to give back to their own parents.
“Maliit man o malaki, basta galing sa puso ang tulong mo.. naappreciate yan ng mga magulang niyo. Mabuhay lahat ng bread winner na anak sa mundo!” she continued.
