A Reddit user’s post has gone viral after disclosing that Roblox has sexual activities kids can access.
In the Filipino Roblox community, user u/BukPlazlol found two sex-based games – ‘PH Hangout 22o’ and ‘Boldhaven’ – where players can take off their clothes and engage in sexual acts.
However, the majority of players in these communities are children.
The Redditor also mentioned that players would ask others to meet up in person, use the N-word, and display problematic symbols.
Similar hangouts with explicit avatars having sex and wearing Nazi uniforms were reported by the BBC in 2022. Roblox games are not exclusive to the Philippines.
“I saw the game’s chat in which one of the players revealed their ages [ranging from] 10, 9, 11, and 12,” he wrote in a post.
It is not easy to discover these games, and users have to explicitly search for them. Facebook and Discord have groups dedicated to these games where one can request a link to join.
According to BBC, Roblox stated that they have a strict policy of not allowing sexual content or behavior in the game. They immediately act against any user who violates community standards.
However, despite these efforts, NSFW games still exist on the platform. Some users have said certain games have been removed.
Roblox has provided Parental Controls for concerned parents, allowing them to limit their children’s interactions, restrict which experiences they can access, and control their spending.
Additionally, chat filters have been added to prevent children from seeing inappropriate words and phrases. Despite these measures, some users still suggest parents monitor their children’s activities.
While platforms like Roblox have their benefits, there are still potential dangers such as lurking predators. Parents should ask their children about the games they play and enable parental controls to ensure they are safe.
