A netizen becomes viral after warning travelers about international flights.
In a Facebook post by netizen Maizy Colleen, she shared her terrible experience with the airline company.
Maizy Colleen said travelers should be cautious when booking with Cebu Pacific. This is because the airline tends to unexpectedly change international flight dates even after passengers have checked in and are waiting to board their local connecting flights.
“BE EXTRA CAUTIOUS when booking with #CEBUPACIFIC because they can suddenly move your international flights far from the original date, while you are already checked-in at the airport, and waiting for boarding for the local leg of your trip,” she wrote.
She said they were originally scheduled to leave on June 13 from Davao to Cebu, and then to Incheon, Korea.
However, they received notification that their DVO-CEB flight had been canceled.
The only option to catch their CEB-INC flight was to leave at 8:30 am on June 12 from DVO, with a different route through IAO and CEB.
Colleen received this notification while already at the airport and boarding for the IAO flight had already started.
While waiting for the IAO flight, she received another message stating that the Korea flight scheduled for June 13 would be moved to June 18 instead. She approached the gate attendant for advice. He suggested they travel to Siargao and then Cebu, and inquire about the Korea flight later.
This sudden change of plans affected her and her mother. They had already booked non-refundable and non-transferable hotels, daily tours, and even a Bruno Mars concert ticket for June 18.
Maizy expresses frustration with Cebu Pacific, mentioning that their local flight had been rescheduled multiple times before cancellation. Instead of the original June 13-21 itinerary, it became June 18-21, reducing their time in Korea.
Colleen mentioned that they had accumulated numerous free flight vouchers from previous cancellations by Cebu Pacific. She declared that they would never book with the airline again, even if the fare was just one peso or even free.
She also shared past negative experiences with Cebu Pacific, such as lost luggage and frequent delays.
“With a heavy heart, I wheeled my hand-carry bag home. Thinking of all the things that cannot be refunded. Concluding that Cebu Pacific’s ”Confirmed Booking” is a SURPRISE SCAM. You never know when it will hit you! And after you press “Book this Flight” all that you will see is merely a SUGGESTION of your flight schedule. All there is to do is Hope for the best and Prepare for the worst,” she added.
She said she was patient with the airline in the past and recommended it to friends but has now lost all hope and found the cheap tickets not worth the stress.
Cebu Pacific has been notorious for canceling flights based on anecdotes from netizens.
