Vice Ganda has finally shared his thoughts on the recent controversy surrounding ‘It’s Showtime’ and its move to GTV.
In his June 27 video on YouTube, Vice admitted feeling sad about TV5’s decision but emphasized the importance of expressing gratitude to the network for their help.
According to him, TV5 provided them a much-needed help.
“Ang laki ng tinulong nila sa amin,” he said.
He also mentioned that he harbors no ill feelings towards TVJ because it is natural for them to look for a new network after everything that happened.
The comedian noted that the staff and crew of their show became the casualties of the issue.
He also made a shout-out to the ‘Madlang People’ for sticking with ‘It’s Showtime.’
“Napatunayan nila kung gaano kalaki yung pagmamahal nila sa amin. So, ngayon pa ba naman tayo matatakot?” he said.
Meanwhile, during a media event for TVJ and the Legit Dabarkads on June 20, TV5 President and Chief Executive Officer Guido Zaballero, along with Senator Tito Sotto, responded to the news that ‘It’s Showtime’ is transferring to GTV.
Zaballero emphasized that they respect ABS-CBN’s decision to relocate the show and expressed their commitment to maintaining a partnership with ABS-CBN as a content provider.
“Well, unang-una, they continue to be our partners, and [that] we respect the decision [that] they made. And ang pinaka-importante kasi is at the end of the day, panalo ‘yung Filipino viewers. In fact, I think it was Jeng who said na, ‘This is a good day for TV, it proves that TV is really alive.’”
Sotto referred to their loyalty to the viewers and their shows as the ‘common denominator’ that connects them with other noontime programs.
“When we started Eat Bulaga in 1979, the population of the Philippines was only 47 million, 47.15 to be exact. Eat Bulaga lang noon at Student Canteen, we are now 110 Million, there’s room for everyone. Ang pinakamaganda ay mapasaya natin ang ating mga kababayan. There’s one thing– a common denominator among all of us, lalo na ‘tong mga Dabarkads natin, and ‘yung ating staff, loyalty.”
Zaballero further mentioned that TV5 is eagerly anticipating a rise in viewership as a result of their collaboration with TVJ Productions.
“Ay siyempre, dadami ang viewers ng TV5, we are looking forward to working with TVJ Productions to make this a major success, kasi when– kapag dumami na ang viewers ng TV5, it will be all good for our businesses, and it would also have a significance na rin kasi one month na nawala ang TVJ and Dabarkads eh, so I think ‘yung buong Pilipinas is looking forward to it,” he said.
On May 31, TVJ and the Dabarkads ended their association with TAPE Inc. due to an internal conflict that came between the noontime show and the production company.
