In two separate interviews, ex-lovers Andrea Brillantes and Ricci Rivero both made revelations about their failed relationship.
Amid criticisms brought about by his alleged infidelity, Rivero expressed his choice for an ideal partner without seeming to be affected by the controversy.
During an interview with former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on his vlog, the college basketball player mentioned that he has uncomplicated preferences and is searching for someone who can be a valuable addition to his close circle of friends.
When asked what the ideal girl was for him, Rivero said he wanted someone mature.
“Simple, family-oriented, and may takot sa Diyos,” he added.
When asked about the lessons he gained from his previous relationship, Rivero emphasized the importance of being genuine to oneself, stating that this approach leads to making the right choices.
He also mentioned his reluctance to flaunt material possessions, as he prefers to keep certain aspects of his life private.
Rivero expressed no regrets regarding his unsuccessful romance with Andrea.
“As long as alam mong nasa tama or nasa totoo ka, wala ka namang kailangang i-regret or wala kang babalikan,” he said.
In addition, he also asserted that he does not engage in unnecessary distractions in order to move forward.
He believes that as long as he remains true to himself and acts in accordance with his values, he has no obligation to justify his actions to critics.
When asked if he feels obliged to explain himself to individuals who may have been hurt by his choices, Rivero responded with a firm no.
“Yung obligation parang wala po, kasi una di naman nila alam kung ano talaga ang totoo. Pwedeng may narinig silang isang side, yun lang ang alam nila, hindi naman lahat. Sa akin, siguro hayaan ko nalang sila kung ano man sinasabi nila. Marami rin naman umaabuso. Hayaan nalang natin sa legal team natin,” he said.
Rivero drew flak for his remarks during an interview with Boy Abunda, where he allegedly displayed a lack of chivalry by discussing his intimate involvement with Brillantes and stating that he did not attempt to reconcile after their breakup.
He confirmed that he and Brillantes ended their relationship on June 9, and he requested that the public respect their decision to maintain privacy regarding their romantic affairs.
Meanwhile, Brillantes seemed to have made bigger revelations about her ex-boyfriend.
In an interview with Vice Ganda, the Gen Z actress admitted that she acted like a gay man when it came to being in love.
“Todo po ako as in, actually bakla akong magmahal, bakla rin akong magregalo sobra, hay!
“Siguro po umabot ng milyon. Ganu’n ako mag-love eh.”
Brillantes also shared that she once insisted on having Rivero appear on a show, but due to budget constraints, she decided to get Rivero’s payment from her own talent fee.
She further stated that she has no plans to retrieve any gifts she gave her ex-boyfriend, saying, “Kasi alam n’yo po Meme kapag kinuha ko kasi lahat ng ibinigay ko sa kanya wala na siyang gamit sa condo niya.”
“Minsan, kung hirap kang mag-move on, kailangan mo talagang isipin ‘yung mga bagay na, ‘talaga ba iiyakan ko ‘yung lalaki na hindi naman nagpapa-laundry ng isang taon?’ ganun,” she added.
Andrea also said she regrets nothing.
