ABS-CBN’s well-received crime-thriller series, Dirty Linen, continues to captivate its audience with its characteristic bold and intense storytelling.

From its remarkable and widely acclaimed first episode, online users are once again experiencing a strong emotional connection to the series’ reflection of social and political parallels, just a fortnight before its conclusion.

In a scene from the episode aired on Thursday, August 17, viewers couldn’t help but draw a striking comparison to the way the Marcos family left the country during the 1986 People Power revolution.

During this episode, the character Dona Cielo, portrayed by the esteemed actress Ms. Tessie Tomas, is depicted instructing Carlos, played by the accomplished actor John Arcilla, to gather and conceal their gold, jewelry, and other precious items within their mansion’s underground chamber.

This particular scene resonated with many viewers, evoking memories of how the Marcoses packed away their collection of currency and ornaments as they departed the nation.

The Twitter account @AtlStarMagic conveyed its astonishment in a tweet, deeming the scene as highly “Imeldific.”

WAIT THIS IS SO IMELDIFIC CHRUEEEE???  #DLPredator”

Similarly, @jub_alberto took to Twitter to draw a direct parallel between this scene and the analogous situation at Malacañang in 1986.

Parang eksena sa Malacanang noong February 1986! Sasakay din kaya sila ng bangka sa Pasig River?! Mahusay, #DirtyLinen! #DLPredator #TessieTomas #JohnArcilla”

Injecting humor, journalist Jules Guiang quips, “After 30 years naman happy sila uli kasi 3 decades nilang tatrabahuin nanlinisin ang pangalan nila, dami nilang pera to make that happen”

@icedmackyata shares a similar sentiment, tweeting, “Parang alam ko na magiging ending nitong Dirty Linen. Magiging presidente ng Pilipinas si Carlos Fiero para linisin lahat ng kalat ng pamilya nya. Final answer! Charot.  #DLDirtySecret”

@renzdvr points out the familiarity of Tomas’ dialogue in the scene.

“‘Walang makaka-alam, we are leaving’ The design is very familiar qqqaa #DLPredator”

Parody account @momshiedivine humorously connects the scene to the popular Tallano gold myth.

“Tallano Gold na pala ito ng mga Marcos. Makihingi ka na bes @Senyora yan na inaasahan mo sa idol mong korap charing whahaha”

Similarly, @raymund_orpiana tweets about the infamous Tallano gold.

“Hahaha yung Tallano Gold. Charot”

Meanwhile, @lucaswinterber2 jests, “Marcoses be like: wait, is this fucking play about us? #DirtyLinen”
