Social media influencer Rendon Labador has publicly expressed his disagreement with the removal of a police officer involved in a recent traffic incident on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
The incident, which went viral, saw the officer halting traffic to allow the passage of a “VIP.”
Labador took to Instagram to share his perspective, asserting that the police officer should not have been dismissed because he was simply following orders.
Instead, Labador questioned why the blame was placed on the officer and suggested that those who passed through the area should be held accountable.
“Bakit yung pulis ang sinibak agad? Kawawa naman, sumusunod lang naman yan sa utos. Hindi naman tama yan,” Labador remarked.
Labador further queried, “Ang tanong ko, sino yung dumaan? Dapat yun ang sinisibak sa pwesto!”
In addition, Labador made a broader statement about the sacrifices of the police force, implying that they are often burdened with addressing the “foolishness” of politicians.
“Hindi ako sang-ayon sa pagsibak nung pulis! Ginagawa lang niya ‘yung trabaho niya. Ang sibakin ninyo kung sino yung dumaan. Sino ba ‘yun?”
The incident sparked outrage among the public, leading to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Police Station 14 issuing an apology, relieving the involved police officer of his duties, and launching an investigation into the matter.
The QCPD assured the public that such occurrences would not recur. It was later clarified by the Office of the Vice President that Sara Duterte was not involved in the incident, contrary to initial speculations.
