Today, Yexel Sebastian on his Facebook account, spoke out regarding their involvement in an alleged ₱200 million investment scam, following their departure from the Philippines on October 9, 2023.
On Tuesday morning, October 10, 2023, Yexel Sebastian shared a statement addressing the serious accusations against him and wife Mikee Agustin.
In his statement, Sebastian asserted that he felt compelled to defend himself and his family against the allegations that have been circulating.
He initially hesitated to speak up, but the situation escalated, leading to significant public attention and concerns about their safety. He emphasized that their family members were deeply affected, leading him to believe that it was the right time to address the situation.
The video statement also featured footage from what Sebastian claimed was a legitimate ribbon-cutting ceremony at a casino in Clark, Pampanga, in 2022.
Sebastian mentioned an individual named ‘Hector Pantollano’ in his statement, describing him as the owner of the investment company currently under scrutiny. He suggested that the operation was legitimate and expressed his belief in its integrity.
However, Sebastian did not provide specific details about the funds collected from overseas Filipino workers who had partnered with them in the investment venture. These individuals had been swayed by images of Sebastian and Mikee surrounded by stacks of cash and the promise of a five percent (5%) monthly return.
The controversy surrounding the alleged ₱200 million investment scam gained traction when overseas Filipino workers raised concerns about their investments on Raffy Tulfo’s public affairs show. Complaints about the scheme quickly spread on various online platforms.
Raffy Tulfo reported that formal complaints have been filed with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) regarding the alleged scam.
