In a recent press conference for the Metro Manila Film Festival entry ‘Firefly,’ seasoned actress Cherry Pie Picache openly expressed her grief over the passing of veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez, a close friend in the industry.
Cherry Pie and Ronaldo had shared the screen in various projects over the years, creating a bond that she cherished. Reflecting on his demise, she shared her sentiments during the event.
“Actually, hindi pa ako nagpo-post. Hindi pa ako nagpo-post. If there are any senior actors na medyo, you know, I can say that, you know, I got kind of close with, isa si Tito Ron don. Hindi pa nga ako nagpo-post kasi [ayoko pang i-entertain], tsaka anong sasabihin ko?” said Cherry Pie.
The conversation shifted to the challenges faced in finding suitable replacements for senior actors like Ronaldo Valdez, whose contribution to the industry is significant.
Cherry Pie acknowledged the scarcity of actors capable of filling such roles, emphasizing the difficulty in identifying suitable successors.
“Pinag-uusapan namin madalas, ‘di ba sa mga co-actors, ngayon, lalo na ‘pag senior actors, ang hirap-hirap na. Parang wala ka ng mahanap na sino papalit?” Cherry Pie shared.
