Cristy Fermin opened up about Ogie Diaz’s personal struggles as emotions ran high following the confirmation of the breakup between Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo.
Reflecting on Diaz’s journey, Fermin shed light on his early life, emphasizing the challenges he overcame before becoming the well-known figure he is today.
Diaz faced criticism from KathNiel fans who labeled him a “fake news peddler” after sharing information about Andrea Brillantes’ alleged secret meeting with Daniel, which reportedly reached Kathryn.
During her show ‘Cristy Ferminute,’ Fermin emotionally recounted Diaz’s determination to uplift his family. She highlighted his transition from seeking employment at GMA Network to learning the ropes at Mariposa Publications, ultimately becoming a writer and editor.
Fermin shared the difficult circumstances of Diaz’s upbringing, with a father who worked as a taxi driver and was tragically robbed and killed. Diaz’s mother sustained the family by selling sacks of charcoal.
“Aaminin ko po… sensitibo po ako pagdating kay Ogie Diaz kasi hindi n’yo nakita ang kanyang pagsisimula at kung paano niya binuo ang kanyang mga pangarap sa pagsisipag… Pero tinawag ninyong sinungaling, ang pinakakain sa kanyang pamilya ay paggawa lamang ng inimbentong kuwento katulad ko. Mahirap po ang trabaho namin,” expressed Fermin.
In November, Ogie Diaz faced criticism for reporting rumors about the separation of Kathryn and Daniel, drawing significant backlash from KathNiel fans. Fermin, in her YouTube show, confirmed the breakup and challenged Karla Estrada to a face-to-face discussion on the KathNiel issue. Karla denied confirming her son Daniel’s split with Kathryn.
On November 30, after an 11-year relationship, Kathryn and Daniel separately confirmed their breakup, marking the end of the KathNiel era.
