The legal team representing actor Ian Veneracion is currently exploring the possibility of taking legal action against writer-director Ronaldo Caballo.
This follows a viral post by Caballo, where he complained about Veneracion’s reported talent fee of half a million pesos.
In an exclusive statement obtained by INQUIRER.net, Ian Veneracion’s management characterized Caballo’s viral post as malicious, seen as an attempt to publicly embarrass the actor.
“Rather than verifying the information (on Veneracion’s talent fee), Mr. Carballo appears to have engaged in online behavior that undermines these principles, in an attempt to publicly humiliate our client and our team,” the statement read.
The management emphasized their strict policy of confidentiality and transparency in business negotiations, claiming that Caballo violated this policy by making the information public.
“In managing our client’s professional engagements, we maintain a strict policy of confidentiality in all business dealings, ensuring transparency and respect both with clients and artists,” the statement continued.
Ian Veneracion’s camp also pointed out inaccuracies in Caballo’s details, stating that the reported budget did not align with their discussions with the client.
“Contrary to the claims, we did not request any additional charges. Our terms were clear, especially regarding the hours required for the event, and at no point did we ask for a solo float,” they clarified.
The statement revealed that attempts were made to contact Caballo directly to address the misinformation, but he blocked communication. This has led Veneracion’s team to consider legal action for online defamation.
“In our business dealings, we acknowledge that negotiations are a standard practice and are open to discussions with professionals across various fields. However, it’s crucial to approach these negotiations with respect and professionalism,” the management explained.
Expressing disappointment over attempts to undervalue professionals through lowballing, they stood firm in respecting the rates set by professionals and urged others to approach such discussions with fairness and respect.
