Actress and host Anne Curtis has voiced her concern over the “critical threat” facing Masungi Georeserve.
Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) account, Curtis shared a tweet from Masungi Georeserve detailing the ongoing drilling operations in the area, which are causing significant environmental damage.
In the tweet, Masungi Georeserve revealed that their drone surveillance had uncovered multiple drilling activities conducted by Rizal Wind Energy Corp., with backing from Singapore-based Vena Energy. These operations are reportedly aggressively breaching the pristine limestone formation of Masungi.
I hope attention is brought to this. We really need to start prioritising what beauty we have left! Specially places that are close to the Metro. Konti na lang natirira na malapit 🙁 https://t.co/7hD5gjns71

Masungi Georeserve, situated in the southern Sierra Madre range in Baras, Rizal, serves as a vital conservation area.
Expressing her concern, Curtis emphasized the importance of prioritizing the preservation of natural beauty. She particularly highlighted the dwindling number of such areas near Metro Manila.
The drilling operations conducted by Rizal Wind Energy Corp. have raised alarms due to their adverse impact on the limestone formations and the wildlife habitat in Masungi Georeserve.
Anne Curtis’ advocacy for Masungi Georeserve garnered praise from netizens, who commended her for using her platform to raise awareness about environmental issues.
While Curtis’ call to action has resonated widely, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has yet to issue a response or statement regarding the matter.
