In an interview with Karen Davila, Mark Bautista bravely shared a deeply personal revelation, shedding light on a traumatic experience from his past.
During the conversation, Bautista revealed that he had been a victim of inappropriate behavior by a relative during his childhood, an ordeal that left him questioning his own identity.
“Nung time na yon, may point sa buhay ko na kinukuwestiyon ko, ‘Kung hindi nangyari sa akin yon, sino kaya ang Mark ngayon? Baka ibang tao siya,'” he disclosed.
Reflecting on the incident, Bautista expressed remorse for his younger self, acknowledging the helplessness he felt at the time. “May naisip pa ako na, ‘I’m sorry Mark na bata, na nangyari sa yo yun. You were so helpless, hindi mo rin naman alam. Sorry kung may nag-grab sa yo na something sa childhood mo,'” he added.
Despite encountering the relative again after his father’s passing, Bautista chose not to confront them, opting instead for forgiveness. “I think, napatawad ko na siya. Whatever happens, I’m okay, a-accept ko lahat. Kung anuman ang mangyari, kung hindi na ako tatanggapin sa showbiz o wala nang show, ready ako,” he affirmed.
Bautista also shared that he had confided in his parents about the incident, receiving their unwavering support.
In addition to this revelation, Bautista previously made headlines in 2018 when he publicly came out as bisexual. Although this decision had repercussions on his career, resulting in the loss of several projects, Bautista stands by his choice and harbors no regrets.
