Pinoy Travel Vlogger survives kidney scare in Colombia

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers travelers may face in unfamiliar territories, highlighting the importance of caution and vigilance while abroad.

Filipino travel vlogger Francis Candia shared a terrifying experience from his recent trip to Colombia, where he narrowly escaped a potential organ theft after being drugged by a cartel.

Candia recounted the harrowing incident in a candid video on his vlog, detailing how he became a victim of criminal activity in the South American country.

According to his account, he found himself in a precarious situation when he decided to spend his last night in Colombia at a rooftop bar in his hotel.

“Hindi ko alam pero siguro may nilagay siya sa drink ko, after ‘nun na-blackout na ako, wala na ako maalala,” he shared.

Engaging in conversation with a local, Candia soon felt the effects of what he suspects was a spiked drink, leading to a blackout.

Upon regaining consciousness, he discovered himself in a hospital bed, connected to various medical devices. Despite his disorientation, Candia managed to leave the hospital and return to his room, only to realize that his belongings, including his wallet, cellphone, and laptop, had been stolen.

In an emotional recounting during his vlog, Candia described seeking help from hotel staff and attempting to communicate with the police, despite his compromised state.

He displayed marks on his body from medical procedures performed during his hospitalization, indicating the severity of the situation.

Candia expressed his gratitude to friends who assisted him in returning to the United States after being left with nothing in Colombia.
