Coron Councilor proposes Persona Non Grata status for bloggers after Mayor’s office incident

Councilor Eyes’ proposal aims to address what he described as unacceptable behavior by the vloggers.

A councilor in Coron is seeking to declare two vloggers persona non grata following a controversial incident at the mayor’s office.

Councilor Juan Patricia Eyes made the proposal after a viral video surfaced showing vloggers Rendon Labador and Rosmar Tan confronting Jho Trinidad, a staff member of Mayor Marjo Reyes.

The confrontation arose after Trinidad posted a critique on social media about an event organized by Labador and Tan, accusing them of neglecting the attendees. Trinidad claimed that residents were left waiting for hours and were not provided with any refreshments.

“They waited for several hours until they starved. The staff even assisted you, but you did not give them a single centavo,” Trinidad wrote on Facebook.

In response to the incident, Mayor Marjo Reyes, who was on official travel at the time, has ordered a thorough investigation. He instructed the officers-in-charge of the relevant local government departments to conduct a fair and comprehensive inquiry into the matter.

Mayor Reyes was in Puerto Princesa on June 13 to support local participants in the Baragatan Festival 2024.

The local government’s investigation will determine the appropriate actions to be taken based on the findings.
