Ninang apologizes for wedding delay in Amlan, Negros Oriental

Despite the challenges faced, concerned citizens and netizens have since rallied to support the Suelto-Sagario couple in their effort to commemorate their special day under more positive circumstances.

In the aftermath of a wedding debacle in Amlan, Negros Oriental, Charlene Sunico, the ninang at the center of the controversy, has publicly apologized for her role in the misunderstanding that disrupted the ceremony of Janine and Jove Sagario.

The issue arose when misinformation about the wedding schedule led to the couple arriving late at Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish on June 8. As a result, they faced criticism from the officiating priest and the incident went viral on social media.

In a video aired on lawyer Ruphil Bañoc’s radio show ‘Straight to the Point’ on June 12, Sunico took responsibility for the mix-up and expressed remorse to the parish priests and all those affected by the incident.

“Humingi agad ako ng paumanhin dahil inamin ko ang aking pagkakamali,” Sunico stated during the broadcast.

She also personally attended the wedding to apologize directly to Jove, Janine, and the priest who presided over the ceremony, all of whom faced public scrutiny following the incident.

Sunico explained that she received information from a source within the church suggesting a change in the wedding time, which prompted her to inform the families involved. However, she later learned that the information was inaccurate and expressed regret over trusting it due to her role in the church.

Despite facing backlash online, Sunico declined to disclose the identity of the person who provided the incorrect information, citing potential escalation of the issue.

Additionally, Sunico urged the public to refrain from spreading misleading information about her and other individuals involved in the incident.

The wedding incident garnered widespread attention after Janine Sagario shared their ordeal on social media. Msgr. Albert Erasmo Bohol, the parish priest, also issued an apology to the Sagario couple and their families, attributing the confusion to a miscommunication. He clarified that no official communication regarding changes to the wedding schedule was issued due to a funeral service scheduled immediately after the ceremony.
