Carlos Yulo’s mother denies allegations of misusing son’s savings amid ongoing family dispute

As the family continues to deal with these public and private issues, the situation remains unresolved.

Angelica Poquiz Yulo, mother of Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, has publicly denied accusations of financial misconduct related to her son’s savings.

The allegations emerged following a family dispute and growing tensions within the public sphere.

In a recent video interview, Angelica addressed criticisms from Yulo’s supporters who have accused her of being financially driven and causing rifts within the family. She strongly refuted these claims, asserting that there has been no misuse of Carlos Yulo’s money.

Angelica detailed a past incident involving Yulo’s lost passbook, explaining that Carlos filed an affidavit of loss, which was notarized, allowing him to reclaim his funds from BDO.

“Since hawak ko yung passbook niya, nagpasa siya ng affidavit of loss. Got it notarized tapos pinasa niya sa BDO,” Angelica said. She confirmed that Carlos received the full amount, totaling PHP 11 million.

Regarding a separate account at Land Bank of the Philippines, Angelica stated she held onto Carlos’ ATM card, which was used for his allowance from the Philippine Sports Commission. She provided a breakdown of the allowance increases over the years, from PHP 5,000 to PHP 10,000, and noted substantial deposits made to the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines.

The ongoing family tension has been attributed to Carlos’ relationship with his girlfriend, Filipino-Australian vlogger Chloe Anjeleigh San Jose. Angelica suggested that Chloe’s presence has intensified the family discord. “Ang naging mitsa lang naman talaga ever since yung babae talaga,” she remarked.

Angelica firmly denied allegations that any funds were stolen or misused, stating, “Wala kaming ninakaw, wala kaming ginalaw na pera niya.” She clarified that any use of Carlos’ savings was for necessary expenses and that his financial needs have been met without any personal gain.

The dispute comes amid Carlos Yulo’s recent success at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he has garnered widespread acclaim for his achievements.
