Elaiza and Karl Yulo, siblings of Filipino Olympian Carlos Yulo, are at the center of controversy after a viral TikTok video showing them participating in the popular “zombie challenge” was accused of mocking persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The now-deleted video was posted by their friend, Josimhae, and has sparked outrage among netizens.
Viewers criticized the Yulo siblings for allegedly imitating individuals with autism or other disabilities, rather than following the trend’s intended zombie theme. Some netizens demanded that the Yulos issue an apology, calling their behavior offensive and insensitive toward the PWD community.
Social media quickly erupted with reactions, with one commenter saying, “It didn’t look like zombies, it looked like they were mocking people with autism.” Others expressed their outrage more bluntly, with one netizen remarking, “These kids are from a dysfunctional family.”

It’s Eldrew Yulo and siblings sissy.
Well what do we even expect, Filipinos have a thing on mocking PWD’s and they for sure were not raised well by their mom https://t.co/ql3cYf6VL7— Lily ✧⁵ (@kangtyunho) September 24, 2024
Despite the criticism, some defended the Yulo siblings, arguing that the video was harmless and that people were being overly sensitive. “They were clearly just doing the zombie challenge. People are too quick to judge,” one defender posted.

Amid the controversy, some netizens called for a broader conversation on the importance of showing respect for the PWD community, emphasizing how such actions, even if unintended, can cause harm.
