Social media personality Deo Balbuena, widely known as “Diwata,” has ignited speculation about a possible run for Congress following his recent appearance in a billboard campaign supporting a partylist group.
In a recent video, Diwata proudly showcased a billboard for the vendors partylist, featuring notable figures Malu Lipana and Lorenz Pesigan. The billboard prominently displays Diwata’s name, drawing considerable attention from his followers and the public.
“Ang laki ng billboard dito guys. So ayan, nakakatouch nga lang diba? Kasi sino ba naman mag-aakala na malalagay na tayo sa mga daanan na nakikita talaga ng tao. Sino ba naman ako para ilagay sa billboard? Kaya naman naaappreciate ko yung effort dyan. Maraming salamat!” Diwata expressed in the video.
While this display has fueled rumors about Diwata’s political ambitions, it remains unclear whether he will officially seek a seat as a nominee for the partylist.
Reactions to Diwata’s involvement with the partylist have been mixed. Supporters argue that his background with the Paresan business makes him a suitable representative for vendors. Critics, however, question his qualifications for a legislative role given his educational and professional background.
As of now, Diwata has not made any formal statements regarding a potential congressional bid.
