Madam Kilay criticizes Rosmar Tan’s post amid Typhoon Kristine relief efforts

Madam Kilay’s message called for sensitivity and genuine empathy, underscoring the need for influencers to responsibly use their platform, especially during times of crisis.

Social media star Madam Kilay did not hold back her frustration with influencer Rosmar Tan over a controversial post Tan shared during the height of Typhoon Kristine’s devastation in Bicol.

Tan’s now-deleted post described the comfort of her lifestyle compared to those affected by the typhoon, writing, “Ang hirap isipin na habang kami nakahiga sa malambot na kama, kagigising lang at naka-aircon, ang daming bata, matanda na ‘di na alam paano ililigtas sarili sa Bicol dahil sa baha at bagyo.”

Many netizens, including Madam Kilay, found the message insensitive.

Reacting on her Facebook page, Madam Kilay criticized Tan’s post, calling it a “brag” and questioning its purpose. “‘Yung nag-BRAG ka pa na ang sarap ng tinutulugan mo tapos ‘yung iba nanganganib ang buhay dahil sa bagyo. KABOTLOGAN NETO!” Madam Kilay posted, adding a video where she further expressed her disappointment.

In her video, she advised Tan to be more considerate, suggesting that instead of mentioning her comfort, she could have simply expressed support and empathy. “Te, sumasakit ang ulo ko sa’yo… bago tayo mag-post, titingnan muna natin kung tama ba ‘yung interpretasyon ng post natin kasi merong iba nami-misunderstood,” said Madam Kilay.

Madam Kilay also criticized Tan’s request for proof videos from victims to qualify for financial aid, describing it as an added burden on those already in distress. “Binigyan mo pa sila ng trabaho! Binigyan mo pa sila ng obligasyon para lang sa limang libo,” she said, urging Tan to send a team to the affected areas instead.

The incident sparked online debate, with many agreeing that Tan’s approach seemed tone-deaf amid the tragedy.
