A restaurant worker claimed he was dismissed from his job after being caught on video feeding a stray dog outside his workplace, sparking outrage online.
Vhal Sardia, who had worked as a food server for five years, posted on Facebook about his termination, sharing a video of him feeding stray animals near the restaurant. According to Sardia, his supervisor reported the video to higher management, leading to his removal.
“Maraming salamat sa limang taon na aking pagtatrabaho bilang isang Food Server. Ngunit sa isang video na inupload ko last time ito rin ang dahilan upang ireport ako ng aking supervisor sa aking opisana na nag dulot ng aking pagka tanggal,” Sardia wrote.
He explained that he only fed the animals during his breaks or after his shifts, “Hindi ko po kase napigilan na sila ay bigyan ng pagkain kaya’t madalas ang ginagawa ko ang pagpapakain sa kanila off duty or breaktime ko.”
Sardia said he received a call and text from the restaurant’s human resources department, requesting a handwritten explanation of his actions. The alleged reason for his termination was due to “unsanitary practices.”
“May pinapapirma po sa akin na against ako sa nakalagay,” he said. “So hindi po ako pumirma nagalit yung HR at sabe niya magtatagal daw kami dito sa loob ng office.”
Sardia expressed disappointment, stating that despite his years of service, it was his act of feeding stray dogs that led to his firing. His post quickly went viral, receiving thousands of shares and support from netizens, with some calling for a boycott of the restaurant, identified as Goto Tendon.
As of this writing, Goto Tendon has not released an official statement addressing the issue. However, the restaurant’s social media account drew further criticism when it posted a promotional message amidst the controversy: “Nasa Goto Tendon ang kakaibang hotness na di mo kaya dedmahin! .”
Public backlash continues to grow, with many social media users demanding an explanation from the restaurant regarding the incident.
