Boy Tapang denies assaulting partner, says argument stemmed from vaping dispute

While she later filed an affidavit of desistance and asked for Suan’s release, authorities clarified that the case cannot be withdrawn as it is now under court jurisdiction.

Content creator Ronie Suan, popularly known as Boy Tapang, has denied allegations that he physically assaulted his live-in partner, Cristina Morales, following his arrest in Alcoy, Cebu.

The 25-year-old vlogger claimed their heated argument was a misunderstanding between partners and not an incident of abuse.

In an interview shared by MyTV Cebu, Suan explained that the conflict started after he prohibited his partner—who had recently given birth—from using a vape.

In anger, he said, he destroyed the vape, which escalated the situation into a verbal fight. Suan also alleged that his partner went on to damage several household items and even broke down a door during the altercation.

“Normal lang talaga sa mag-partner. Napuno lang talaga sa galit ‘yung partner ko. Kaya siya nag-report sa pulis,” Suan said. He stressed that no physical violence occurred, claiming instead that he was the one injured by broken household items.

Despite their reconciliation, Suan was charged under Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act. He was released on bail after posting ₱3,000, but legal proceedings continue as the case has already been filed in court.

Alcoy Police Station Chief Capt. Jerry Magsayo confirmed that the victim initially presented with bruises on different parts of her body and filed a formal complaint. While she later filed an affidavit of desistance and asked for Suan’s release, authorities clarified that the case cannot be withdrawn as it is now under court jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, Suan refuted claims that the incident was staged for content, saying he spent the night in detention and voluntarily cooperated with authorities. “Hindi ito scripted. Totoong nangyari,” he said, adding that he and his partner have since reconciled.

He also questioned the accuracy of the medical report, implying that the findings were based solely on the victim’s statements and lacked objective evidence.

Cebu Police Provincial Office Director Col. Jovito Atanacio encouraged the complainant to pursue the case fully, warning that dropping the charges might enable future abuse.

Suan, who rose to fame for his viral food challenge videos and quirky content, currently has over 4.8 million followers on Facebook and more than 2.3 million subscribers on YouTube. As of this writing, he continues to deny any physical abuse, maintaining that the situation was blown out of proportion.
