During a private morning mass on Monday, Pope Francis advocated for politicians to set aside partisan differences and get together as one to fight the coronavirus.
The live mass has regularly been televised for the past 6 weeks ever since the virus started dominating Italy.
He started off saying, “We pray today for men and women who have a political vocation.”
Pope Francis then pointed out that “politics is a high form of charity.”
Only a few people were in attendance, which is actually the norm.
All politicians worldwide should unite and leave politics behind until the crisis subsides, according to the prayer by the pope.
“(We pray) for the political parties of various countries, so that in this time of pandemic, they together seek the good of the country and not the good of their own party.”

Pope Francis did not mention any names or countries.
Through his frequent masses, the pope is able to draw attention to the ones most affected by the outbreak, such as the homeless, and the migrants.
On Sunday, he said that the world should come together and that no nation should be left behind because this would only result in “an even worse virus.”
“Now, while we are looking forward to a slow and arduous recovery from the pandemic, there is a danger that we will forget those who are left behind,” he said.
