State-run People’s Television Network (PTV) was blasted by netizens for using Emilio Aguinaldo’s photo in a feature about Andres Bonifacio during its coverage of the 122nd Philippine Independence Day celebration on Friday.
The network apologized for the error.
“The said error was already corrected and the revised version will be uploaded in the network’s social media pages,” PTV said.
“We sincerely apologize for this mistake. Rest assured that under the new PTV management, necessary training and skills development will be initiated to avoid similar inaccuracies.”

Bonifacio was the leader of the resistance movement Katipunan during the Spanish colonial rule. He was executed on May 10, 1897, at the age of 33 after a military court found him and his brother guilty of treason.
Aguinaldo was the president from January 1899 to March 1901 when he was captured by American forces. He later swore allegiance to the United States, which colonized the Philippines after Spain.
Aguinaldo died in February 1964 at age 94.
