On September 28, Vice President Leni Robredo said that she actually wants President Rodrigo Duterte to succeed in the fight against the pandemic.
Robredo made it clear to the public that her criticism of the government’s COVID-19 response is her way of showing that she just wants to be given the opportunity to help.
“Ididiin ko: Gusto lang naming tumulong. Ayaw naming mabigo ang gobyerno, dahil kapag nabigo ang gobyerno, tayong mga Pilipino ang magdurusa, tayong mga Pilipino ang magkakasakit at mamamatay,” she said.
She also said that further division between the supporters of Duterte and her party is not really needed in this trying time.
Robredo on Monday gave suggestions on how the country can overcome the pandemic, similar to what neighboring countries have done.
Robredo wants the government to be more strategic and organized in their efforts to combat the pandemic to lessen the rise in confirmed cases. She also thinks the government has “good intentions” in their fight against the deadly disease.
Marami pang puwedeng gawin; marami pang kakulangang puwedeng punan,” Robredo said during a live stream on Facebook.
The Palace has received three sets of proposals from Robredo’s office which seek to provide further support for the government’s response to the pandemic.
Robredo has always said that she has the right to criticize the government whenever a mistake is committed.
The vice president received a lot of praise for her remarks.
No sign of negativity in VP Leni's speech – despite all the hate, fake news, and trolling she has received. Her focus on solutions, reliance on evidence, and willingness to work with the government is a breath of fresh air in these leaderless, rudderless times.

DDS: I'd rather you suggest solutions.
VP Leni: *makes actual suggestions"
DDS: it's simply annoying to see her inputs.
